IT'S PRONOUNCED "HAH-vuh-luh."

The first question I typically get is about the pronunciation of my name. The second? "How did a small town girl from the Midwest end up with such a funky name?" Well, the answer can be summed up in four words: My parents are musicians.

The longer story is that when they were in a musical production of Fiddler on the Roof, my parents fell in love with the name of one of the characters--Chava.

Ten years later, they finally had their little girl and got to use the name.

After much consideration, they decided to go with the Yiddish nickname version of the name, adding "leh" to the end and then dropped the "C" in an attempt to limit the mispronunciation of the name. (Although I think we can both agree that there is still a lot of room for mispronunciation! It happens all of the time and doesn't bother me at all.)

Something you should know about me: I love to learn. Whether it's keeping current on industry trends or mastering the art of making my own sushi, I like to continually challenge myself and keep my mind fresh.

I had always loved learning new things, but when I went to college I discovered a new world of developing learning experiences for others. This led me to attend a curriculum writing school hosted by a publishing house where I decided that helping others learn would be a permanent part of my life plan. During my graduate work, I continued to explore a variety of teaching methods with a wide spectrum of age groups--from experiencing white water rafting and high ropes courses to practicing the art of creative storytelling and understanding the importance of relevant research. I now have over fifteen years of teaching, facilitating and instructional design experience.

So, why pick me?

Not only do I have extensive experience in the educational theories and design methods of instructional design, but I also bring an eye for visual formatting and a talent for graphic design. Additionally, there's no need to hire out for eLearning voice-overs; I've got you covered. Finally, I thoroughly enjoy teaching and facilitating in both classroom and virtual settings. Classroom, retreat, live streaming, webinar, self-directed eLearning and blended learning environments are all part of my repertoire.

If you asked my colleagues and clients over the years about me, they would tell you that I have a strong sense of responsibility and an acute attention to detail. I believe in the value of teamwork and I always strive for excellence. I thrive in environments where I can shepherd a project from idea conception to full implementation. A natural problem-solver, I also truly enjoy finding creative new solutions to old or broken processes and programs.

The definition of a facilitator is "someone who makes progress easier." The reason I do what I do is to serve others and to create experiences that are catalysts for growth and development--individually as well as collectively as a team. Nothing makes me happier than when I see the "aha moment" occur as someone learns a new skill or understands something in a new way, and knowing that I helped make that happen for them.

Contact me and let's talk about how I can make progress easier for you.
